Andrey Psyche — Creative Infrastructure for Community

I help nonprofits and community organizations communicate their impact, raise support, and strengthen community through film, photography, design, storytelling, websites, publishing, and creative strategy.

Island Shakespeare Festival

Island Shakespeare Festival needed an authentic way to communicate the spirit, beauty, and community impact of the organization through the voices of the people who experience it firsthand.

I recorded candid interviews with patrons, company members, and actors, inviting them to share their honest experiences and perspectives on Island Shakespeare Festival. I then shaped their voices and supporting footage into an engaging testimonial film that captures both the artistic work and the human community surrounding the organization.

The finished video gave Island Shakespeare Festival an emotionally resonant story it could share with audiences, supporters, donors, and prospective participants. Rather than simply describing the organization, the film allows real people to demonstrate its value, helping viewers see the joy, connection, creativity, and sense of belonging that make the festival meaningful.

Meander Dance Collective

Meander Dance Collective needed professional photography and multi-camera video documentation of its live performance. The immediate purpose was to preserve the work for the company’s archive while honoring the choreography, movement, and emotional character of the dancers.

I photographed the performance through a combination of traditional portraiture and experimental techniques designed to capture the movement and spirit of the dancers. Using long exposures and in-camera lens manipulation, I transformed moments of motion into expressive still images that reveal the energy, gesture, and atmosphere of the performance.

I also recorded the production from multiple camera angles and edited the footage into a complete dance film. By moving deliberately between wide shots, medium perspectives, and intimate close-ups, I created a visual narrative that guides the viewer through both the full choreography and its smallest emotional details.

What began as archival documentation became an original body of visual art. The photographs preserved individual moments while revealing dimensions of movement that could not be experienced in real time. The finished film gave the performance a new life beyond the stage, using perspective, rhythm, intimacy, and editing to create a powerful emotional connection that could, in some ways, reach viewers even more deeply than the live performance.

Together, the photographs and film provided Meander Dance Collective with a lasting artistic archive, compelling promotional material, and an independent creative interpretation of its work.

Friends of friends medical support fund

Friends of Friends Medical Support Fund needed an emotionally meaningful way to raise awareness and financial support for Whidbey Island residents who could not afford necessary medical care.

At the same time, Langley’s poets, musicians, storytellers, and other artists deserved to be seen as part of the living heart of the community. The project needed to connect these two realities by celebrating the beauty of local people while reminding audiences that neighbors facing financial hardship are equally talented, wise, valuable, and deserving of care.

I conceived and produced “Storytellers Unite,” a 72-minute art film traveling through the heart and soul of Langley. I built relationships throughout the creative community and recorded local artists sharing their poetry, music, personal stories, and lived experiences.

I brought these performances together through filming, sound, visual composition, and editing to create a cohesive film that is artistically compelling while remaining emotionally accessible to a broad audience.

I then developed the project into a complete fundraising campaign. I raised money to secure theatrical screen time, supporting local theaters and businesses in the process. I organized the screening event, designed posters, created online promotional campaigns, attended community events, recruited audience members, and produced DVDs for sale after the screening.

Finally, I developed a worldwide distribution strategy for platforms such as YouTube and other streaming channels, allowing the film to reach audiences beyond Whidbey Island and potentially generate continuing royalties for the cause.

“Storytellers Unite” transformed a community art film into a living fundraising system. It brought local artists together, gave their voices a meaningful platform, supported local theaters and businesses, created an in-person community experience, and directed public attention toward neighbors struggling to afford medical care.

By pairing the beauty and humanity of the performers with the mission of Friends of Friends Medical Support Fund, the film helped audiences recognize that the people who need assistance are not distant or abstract. They are members of the same community, carrying their own talents, stories, wisdom, and dignity.

The project created multiple ways to support the cause through ticket sales, physical media, public screenings, online outreach, and long-term distribution. Rather than functioning as a single fundraising event, the film was designed to continue reaching viewers and generating support into the future.

The result was more than a film. It was a community connection project, a celebration of local creativity, an advocacy campaign, an economic contribution to local venues, and the foundation for a perpetual fundraiser.
